Counselling and Psychotherapy

Counselling and psychotherapy are talking interventions aimed at facilitating self-awareness, emotional well-being, and personal growth.

Generally speaking, counselling tends to focus on resolving problems and emotional distress related to day-to-day issues, whereas psychotherapy explores deeper, long standing issues to facilitate positive changes in behavior and cognition.

The goal of both counselling and psychotherapy is to free the client from existing conscious or unconscious barriers in order to make healthier choices in thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.

In addition, counselling and psychotherapy offer an opportunity for clients to develop skills in areas such as:

  • assertiveness
  • interpersonal problem-solving
  • relaxation and visualization
  • coping strategies
  • anxiety, stress, or anger management
